The FLM team is a leader in Utility (Distributed Energy Resource) DER Planning, Program Design, and Program Implementation Analytics. What you will be doing:

Utilize Residential and Commercial Building Energy Modeling (BEM) to help clients answer pressing questions about flexible load management, such as what the hourly load and carbon impacts are of DER technologies not yet widely deployed in their territory.

Conducting novel Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization Analyses based on large scale BEM analysis frameworks, often leveraging existing work such as NREL’s ResStock and ComStock and building upon it.

Assist with Distributed Energy Resource (DER) potential studies, DER Program Planning , preparation of DER fillings and other regulatory support for U.S. Utilities and/or Government agencies.

Develop advanced analytical frameworks for large scale optimization and sensitivity analysis based on tools such as Python and R .

Manage and analyze large datasets using Python, R or advanced Excel functions depending on the requirements of the project.

Assist in the preparation and presentation of persuasive presentations.

Co-author reports and other client deliverables, conference papers, journal articles, white papers, and marketing pieces.

Work on project teams to complete complex tasks and deliver projects on time and on budget.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Electrical Engineering, Building Science, Energy Management, or related subjects.

2+ years of related energy industry experience or academic equivalent

Understanding of energy modeling and heat transfer in the context of buildings.

Experience managing and analyzing large datasets using Python, R or advanced Excel functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Electrical Engineering, Building Science, Energy Management, or related subjects.

Preferred advanced use of programming and data analytics skills utilizing tools such as Excel, Python and R .

Experience with energy modeling tools (e.g., OpenStudio, Energy Plus)

Experience and knowledge of renewables, and energy storage systems.

Experience with energy saving calculation using Technical Resource Manuals (TRM) and other engineering guidelines such as ASHRAE fundamentals.

Knowledge of building construction methods, mechanical systems, and related energy use in residential and commercial construction

Understanding of economic valuation such as NPV and IRR analysis, and utility cost-effectiveness tests

Understanding of energy codes and standards for residential and commercial buildings, such as IECC codes and ASHRAE standards

Ability to work as part of a team and take ownership of individual tasks within a project while upholding the highest ethical standards efficiently and effectively.
