Job Family: CommunicationsReq ID: 408899Media and Public Affairs StrategistOverviewAs a Media and Public Affairs Strategist at Siemens, you will lead our U.S. technology media relations strategy, focusing on developing and maintaining key reporter relationships and driving our media strategy development. You will be responsible for the holistic planning, execution, and assessment of comprehensive communication strategies and initiatives that support our corporate and business goals. Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs, your role will encompass managing national topics core to our business and supporting other internal communication teams. These other teams include paid media, messaging, thought leadership, executive speaking engagements, and social media initiatives. You will act as the primary liaison for media inquiries and external customer communications. A profound interest in learning about Siemens' technology in industrial, infrastructure, and mobility hardware and software is essential, as our technology leadership is integral to our messaging and strategy.Responsibilities:
Generate newsworthy media pitches based on customer success stories, pitch and develop key relationships with technology media.
Plan and implement communication strategy that supports the organizational goals and aligns with broader U.S. agenda.
Build and sustain strong relationships with top tier national, regional, and local reporters across technology, business and financial media.
Craft, edit, and distribute content aimed at regional and national audiences via news media and social platforms, maintaining high editorial standards and professional judgment.
Leverage a deep understanding of national policy and issues relevant to our business to anticipate and navigate emerging challenges through strategic communications.
Support crisis communication efforts, coordinating with stakeholders to develop messaging and strategies that protect the organization's reputation.
Produce a range of media materials, including press releases, fact sheets, Q&As, and media advisories, OpEds, blogs and translating complex topics for general audiences.
Develop external communication assets such as presentations, speeches, talking points, quotes and edit social media content for and on behalf of executives.
Identify and prepare company spokespeople for media engagements, ensuring clear and effective communication.
Organize and execute media moments at events, leveraging a broad knowledge of media landscapes.
Monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and media activities.
Collaborate with global and regional teams to align and execute media relations and communications efforts.
Act as an internal investigative reporter, uncovering and developing newsworthy stories from business partners, packaging them compellingly for media dissemination.
Skill in building relationships across highly matrixed organizations is highly regarded, enhancing collaboration and information flow.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 4 years experience in designing and implementing communication strategies for external stakeholders.
4+ years of successfully working with the media to place earned content.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly matrixed organizations and to foster relationships that facilitate the flow of information and story development.
Ability to travel 30% to events and meetings in Washington D.C.
This position is remote and can sit anywhere in the United States.
Must have the authorization to work in the US now and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications is preferred, but not required. Will consider candidates with real-world experience in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field.
Multilingual skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
Proficient in creating communications materials and a deep understanding of media relations, with a foundational knowledge of government affairs, a big plus.
Familiarity with the core businesses of our organization is beneficial, along with a keen interest in Siemens technology and innovation in industrial, infrastructure, and mobility solutions.

The pay range for this position is $77,800 -$133,400 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
