Summary The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the National Air and Space Museum (NASM), Archives/Photography Services Unit, which is responsible for properly protecting it\'s archival collections and guaranteeing control over them. Responsibilities The Photographer is responsible for planning, logistics, photographing and processing of visual images used by the Smithsonian Institution to enhance displays, graphics and exhibits. In this position, you will: Photograph, promote, and preserve the visual history of the staff, artifacts, exhibits, visitors, and events of the NASM and the Smithsonian by creating and providing professional-quality, digital photography. Serve as the museum’s photographer and digital imaging specialist, the incumbent completes photographic and digital imaging assignments in the Museum studios and on location within and external to the Museum. Employ proper photographic industry standard techniques to ensure museum quality output. Assist in maintaining the condition and security of Museum’s photographic and digital imaging facilities, equipment, and supplies.
