Join our community of mission-driven creatives, communicators, strategists, and technologists to challenge the status quo.TeamThis position will report in to project content strategy leadership for one of ICF’s web projects within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).The WorkWe seek individuals with writing, editing, and/or web content development experience to support work updating, optimizing, and manually migrating to a new content management system (CMS), which will be a version of WordPress. This work will happen under the direction of a task lead for content strategy and a lead content strategist. You will work with other writer-editors to serve one or more offices within the CDC as they update and migrate their content to the new system. In doing so, you will help ensure that content is written in plain language, is scientifically accurate, and meets usability standards.This is a strategic opening to provide networking opportunities for upcoming openings.Key Responsibilities:

Meet with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gain input on content relevancy, timeliness, accuracy, and usability

Make updates to web pages directly within the CMS to fix errors

Revise or write new content where necessary based on SME input

Assist with content inventories and audits as required using provided criteria

Suggest improvements to headings, metadata, and structure

Suggest improvements to CMS content types/page templates and their associated attributes

Suggest improvements to taxonomy, tagging, and other site search or search engine optimization (SEO) components

Required Qualifications:

2+ years of experience writing for the web

1+ years of experience making content updates within a CMS such as WordPress, Drupal or other system

Must be able to obtain & maintain a government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated resiliency and experience in client-facing roles requiring tactful communications in fast-moving environments

Experience with the federal government, especially the CDC or another public health agency

Experience working within web teams using Agile Kanban or similar methods to track ongoing content optimization efforts for a site relaunch

Experience with WordPress

Professional Skills:

Proficiency with editing content for plain language and usability

Ability to collaborate with teams in an agile setting and work across many workstreams

Excellent written and oral communication skills with a focus on attention to detail to produce client-ready copy

Talent for anticipating obstacles and risk in projects and proactively seeking solutions to mitigate them

Job Location(s): This is a remote position, though candidates based in Atlanta are preferred due to proximity to the client.
