Feynman School is seeking a creative and passionate Part-Time Art Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. This role involves developing and delivering an engaging and challenging art curriculum for gifted and talented students in grades K-8. The ideal candidate will inspire and nurture artistic expression, creativity, and critical thinking among our students, fostering a love for the visual arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative art curriculum tailored to the needs and abilities of gifted and talented students.
Teach a variety of art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media, while encouraging students to explore and develop their unique artistic voices.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes creativity, self-expression, and collaboration.
Guide students in the creation of individual and group art projects, exhibitions, and presentations.
Integrate art history and contemporary art practices into lessons to provide context and inspire students.
Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students achieve their artistic potential.
Maintain and manage art supplies, materials, and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized classroom environment.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide events.
Encourage students to participate in local, regional, and national art competitions and exhibitions.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about students’ progress and artistic development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Previous experience teaching art to elementary and middle school students, particularly those who are gifted and talented, is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of various art techniques, materials, and history.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture.
Passion for the arts and a commitment to nurturing the artistic talents of gifted students.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule to be determined based on the needs of the school and the availability of the candidate.
The position requires availability during regular school hours and occasional after-school events or meetings.
