Job Title: Chef de Cuisine
Location: Alexandria Old Town, VA
Position Overview:
An upscale restaurant in the heart of Alexandria’s Old Town is seeking a polished, experienced Chef de Cuisine to join our dynamic team. Our establishment prides itself on delivering an exceptional culinary experience paired with top-tier service. We are looking for an individual who excels in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and has a passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee kitchen operations.
Regularly report to the Executive Chef about the performance of the kitchen personnel and the day-to-day operations.
Attend staff meetings and be part of menu planning and development.
Develop and implement creative menu items within the restaurant concept.
Ensure correct execution, plating and presentation of all dishes.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the menu, including daily specials, and accommodate special dietary requests.
Collaborate closely with front of house staff and other team members to deliver seamless service.
Keep track of kitchen equipment and inventory.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas.
Maintain kitchen logs for food safety program compliance.
Conduct daily walk through of kitchen area ensuring proper operation of equipment, including refrigeration to maintain proper temperature for safe storage of food products.
Ensure proper receiving, storage (including temperature setting) and rotation of food products in compliance with health department regulations, including coverage, labeling, dating and placing items in proper containers.
Aid in control procedures for cost and quality, par inventories, standardized recipes, use records, and food costing sheets.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in fine dining or upscale hospitality settings.
Formal training in culinary arts preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of food principles and best practices.
Ability to thrive in high-pressure environment.
Creative, innovative thinking.
A team-oriented mindset and a dedication to providing outstanding guest experiences.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
What We Offer:
$75,000- $85,000 salary based on experience.
