Systems Administrator

Description As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of our organization's IT infrastructure. This role requires a strong technical background in system administration, combined with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You will work closely with other IT teams to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our systems and services.Responsibilities:

System Maintenance and Monitoring: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, patch management, and backups. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise to ensure optimal operation.

User Support and Helpdesk: Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving technical problems, and answering inquiries. Manage helpdesk tickets and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.

Server Administration: Manage and maintain server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers. Install, configure, and update server operating systems and applications as needed. Monitor server health and performance and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime.

Network Administration: Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Monitor network traffic and troubleshoot connectivity issues. Implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.

Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices to safeguard systems and data. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.

Documentation and Training: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Provide training and guidance to end-users and IT staff on best practices for using and maintaining IT systems.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize the impact of system outages and data loss. Test and update disaster recovery plans regularly to ensure effectiveness.

Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers to procure IT hardware, software, and services. Manage vendor relationships and contracts to ensure service level agreements are met.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Proven experience in system administration or a related role, with a minimum of X years of experience.

Proficiency in administering Windows and/or Linux/Unix operating systems.

Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.

Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.

Knowledge of security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
