Firmware Development Manager (Salary Range: $185,952/yr - $190,952/yr): Build and develop state-of-the-art firmware solutions for LiDAR systems. Manage resources and guide the team development efforts for successful customer milestones. Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship for smooth project execution. Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level firmware, compilers, and network distribution firmware for LiDAR systems. Set operational specifications and analyze and formulate firmware requirements. Support the embedded firmware development adhering to ASPICE, and ISO26262. Oversee the firmware development strategies between low, medium, and high costs. Collaborate with other leaders in FW departments to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain LiDAR firmware. Assist in the documentation of users' requirements, development of user stories, estimates, and work plans. Manage third-party suppliers and offshore teams. Prepare, manage, and track the team budget (CAPEX, OPEX, and headcount). Oversee the staffing plan and project’s needs. Prepare reports and document the status of projects executed within his team. Ensure to deliver firmware projects on time and within budget. Set team objectives and conduct team appraisals. Define, maintain and report KPIs for team performance. Assess and support opportunities for process improvements and prepare documentation of rationale to share with the team to drive Luminar to ASPICE Level 2. Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on time and within budget.
Travel Required 10-15% (Domestic, Europe, Asia). Telecommuting permissible within the US.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related technical field. 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Software Engineer, Engineering Lead, or a closely related occupation.
SKILLS: Must have:
1. Experience managing and developing an automotive ADAS system that includes one or more of the following sensors(Cameras, Radar, Ultrasonic, or LiDAR).
2. Experience building and managing teams including all organizational aspects (performance reviews, salary reviews).
3. Experience with automotive embedded software/system development, including delivering software projects on time and within budget.
4. Knowledge of embedded software/system development adhering to ASPICE and ISO26262.
5. Experience managing remote collaboration of a distributed project team and interfacing with automotive customers.
6. Experience using AUTOSAR framework.
7. Knowledge of source control management systems and continuous integration/continuous deployment environments.
8. Experience in agile development methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum.
9. Familiarity with cyber security and functional safety concepts for automotive applications.
