We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Installer to join our infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience terminating Unicam and Corning fiber optic connectors and will be responsible for executing high-precision fiber installations within server room environments. This role is critical to ensuring reliable and high-performance network connectivity across our data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Terminate and test fiber optic cables using Unicam and Corning connectors.
Install, route, and secure fiber cabling in server rooms and data centers.
Perform fiber splicing, polishing, and connectorization with precision.
Conduct OTDR and power meter testing to validate fiber integrity and performance.
Maintain clean and organized cable management following industry best practices.
Interpret network diagrams, floor plans, and installation schematics.
Collaborate with network engineers and IT staff to meet project deadlines.
Document installation procedures, test results, and cable labeling.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience with Unicam and Corning fiber termination.
Familiarity with server room environments and structured cabling standards.
Proficient in using fiber termination tools, OTDRs, and inspection scopes.
Ability to work independently and follow detailed technical instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
OSHA 10 or equivalent safety certification (preferred).
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined server room spaces.
Comfortable working on ladders, under raised floors, and in high-density rack environments.
