Description Position SummaryThe Database Engineer will be responsible for maintaining existing databases and performing general database development work, including ad-hoc queries, and design of new stored procedures, triggers, and views for internal and external products. This position will also be responsible for problem solving and finding ways to create performant back-end processes. As a Database engineer you will be working closely with the Database Administrator to resolve Database related issues. In addition, you will be responsible for providing appropriate database objects to the report writers and software developers to ensure success of projects assigned to your team.Essential FunctionsCreate databases with efficient structuresData modeling, including an understanding of all normalized forms, design and development of stored procedures, views and triggersDesign stable, reliable and effective databasesOptimize and maintain legacy systemsModify databases according to requests and perform testsSolve database usage issues and malfunctionsLiaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices; provide support through participation in Scrum meetings as a representative of the Database Engineering teamGather user requirements and identify new featuresDevelop technical and training manualsProvide data management support to usersEnsure all database programs meet company and performance requirementsResearch and suggest new database products, services and protocolsHelp create and test SQL statements for data presentation and further automationSetting up and monitoring routine maintenance SQL jobs and developing / maintaining an alert strategy(s) for failed jobs and database problems and/or failuresDevelopment of queries, stored procedures, triggers and views as needed/assignedModify / update T-SQL scripts for importing and organizing dataDevelop SSIS packages to move data between SQL tables, Excel, flat files, and other sources/destinationsManage daily / monthly data and reporting processes automated through SQL Server agentExcellent attention to detail, ability to detect and correct problems within SQL scriptMeet Allied’s expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment. Work closely with manager to complete assigned tasksAdhere to, and apply all applicable privacy and security laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, HITECH and any regulations promulgated thereto. Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned. Attend continuing education classes as required, including but not limited to HIPAA training.
