In North America we have over 11,000 associates and offer a wide variety of employment opportunities - from warehouse forklift operators and supervisors to accounting, customer support, engineering, transportation, and technology solutions positions.ResponsibilitiesPrimary Responsibility:Oversee the Corporate Compliance Program, ensuring the Board of Directors, management, and employees are in compliance with the rulesand regulations of regulatory agencies, company policies and procedures, and the company's code of conduct. Monitor and report results of the company's compliance and ethics efforts. Provide guidance to the Board and senior management team on matters related to compliance. The Director of Compliance, together with the Corporate Compliance Committee, is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program.Essential Functions: Sets the vision and strategy for the company's compliance program and partnering with key stakeholders to ensure the compliance program is followed throughout the Company. Chairs the Company's new Compliance and Policy Committees to implement, train and enforce key company policies. Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Manages day-to-day operation of the Program. Periodically reviews and updates, in collaboration with Human Resources and Legal, Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees. Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Internal Audit, Human Resources, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Consults with the General Counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues. Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance Issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved. Respond to regulatory inquiries, together with the Legal Department Monitors, and as necessary, coordinates compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends. Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Governance Compliance Committee of the Board and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
