You will find a fulfilling career at MSM !Posting Number NONAC2707 Job Title Director Finance & Administration (Finance and Human Resources) Position Title Director Finance & Administration (Finance and Human Resources) Position Type Non-Faculty Number of vacancies 1 Salary $80,000 - $120,000; Commensurate upon experience Department Academic Financial Services Position Summary The Director of Finance and Administration serves as the financial leader for Morehouse School of Medicine’s Human Resources and Finance organizations. This role serves as the principal financial partner to both the Chief Financial Officer ( CFO ) and Chief People Officer ( CPO ) for their departmental financial operations and budgets. The Director is responsible for strategic oversight of the financial planning, budgeting process and maintenance, financial accounting and all administration related to the Office of Human Resources and the Office of Finance. His/her role provides financial decision support on financial planning, analysis, and accounting of the department’s financial goals, plans and budgets. This leader also helps assess financial impact and guide financial decisions to include cost/ benefit analysis, financial impact of decisions and return on investment for decisions. The Director of Finance and Administration is the key principle in supporting these executive team leaders and to execute their department’s financial objectives.This leader serves in an advisory role to the executives for these offices, coordinating with other campus officials on all matters related to finance. This role has a dual reporting relationship with the Chief Financial Officer.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This position is responsible for leading the financial operations of two critical Offices within Morehouse School of Medicine, the Office of Human Resources, and the Finance Office. This includes leadership and oversight of any professionals inside the department that have responsibility for Finance and Administration, their daily operations, coordination, and communications to ensure there is a standard set for all related financial transactions and engagement with constituents at MSM . The Director should possess a high level of financial knowledge, skills, and abilities and the commitment to exercise a high degree of accuracy and good judgement and decision-making. This individual will lead and collaborate on other mission related contracts and new partnership contracts. The Director will serve as an extended team member of CFO and CPO’s leadership teams and partner with their leaders to help achieve their respective business objectives.STRATEGIC · Work with the CPO and CFO in support of new initiatives, planning and forecasting, monthly spend rates, budget planning and achievement as well as other decision support efforts.· Provides the CFO and CPO with financial information relative to their departments.· Partners with the Finance and the Human Resource leadership teams to support the financial and administrative analysis of strategic business initiatives and all day-to-day operations.· Responsible for safeguarding the financial assets of the department by maintaining an effective system of internal controls that is compliant with the standardization and policies and procedures implemented.· Serve as the financial business partner to the respective leadership teams and is responsible for supporting and enabling all financial management and stewardship for the departments.· Plans, directs, and participates in the delivery of operational excellence programs that relate to financial management principles. Work with the executives, functional leaders, and central office leaders on change management and execution of improvements in procedures, processes, and technology related to financial and budgeting practices within those departments.OPERATIONAL · Work collaboratively with the CFO and CPO on the annual budgeting process for these departments. Work with the budget office on assumptions, needs, and requests as needed to move the department’s work forward. Partner with Finance and HR leadership teams on business initiatives, providing financial insights and decision support to guide their projects and strategies (i.e. evaluating cost of project, return on investment, build business cases, etc.) Meet regularly with the leaders to review unit objectives, goals, and operations.· Works collaboratively with leaders of other programs integrating business practices and coordinating all stakeholders to ensure optimal results are achieved in financial management of the department.· Devises comprehensive and effective systems of record management in compliance with accepted accounting procedures and other compliance standards mandated by federal and state agencies.EXPERIENCE · Proven record leading financial planning and analysis efforts for a business unit, overseeing and managing end to end budget processes and financial matters for a department· Experience providing strategic decision support for business initiatives· Skilled in analyzing a variety of data, developing methods for tracking and monitoring revenue expenses· Ability to establish and cultivate effective relationships and teams with various levels of professionals· Demonstrated communication skills that include excellent organizational, people skills, and strong verbal, and written communication skills· Ability to work in a high-volume environment· Excellent time management skills and organizational abilities· Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters appropriatelyMinimum Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance· 5+ years finance and accounting experience that encompasses all areas of finance, accounting, administration required.· An understanding of strategic alignment, mission-based program expansion, and operationalexcellence methodsPreferred Qualifications Master of Business Administration or equivalent degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university; and Prior work experience in an academic, clinical, and/or research institution; and Experience in creating, developing, and implementing the strategic mission of the institution.Closing Date Open Until Filled No Special Instructions to Applicants No staffing or recruitment agencies.Quick Link https://careers.msm.edu/postings/14897 EEO Statement Summary Morehouse School of Medicine is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action employer fully committed to achieving a diverse workforce and complies with all Federal and Georgia State laws, regulations, and executive orders regarding non-discrimination and affirmative action.
