Location: Peachtree Orthopaedic Surgery Center, Piedmont

Work Schedule: Enjoy the flexibility of 4-10 hour shifts with no nights, no weekends, and no on-call

Your Impactful Role

As a Surgical Scrub Technician, you'll be at the heart of the action, ensuring seamless surgical procedures and the utmost care for our patients.

Surgical Expertise: You'll be responsible for preparing the operating room and sterile field with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques, regardless of your level of experience.

Patient-Centered Care: Your role is all about providing patients with comfort, safety, and support tailored to their unique needs as they navigate their surgical journey.

Safety First: You'll serve as a guardian of patient safety, identifying and addressing safety hazards, and ensuring equipment is used effectively to prevent harm.

Procedure Precision: Maintaining awareness of intraoperative care is crucial, covering aspects like patient identification, site/procedure verification, airway management, and fire safety.

Count Accountability: Collaborating with the circulating nurse, you'll ensure accurate surgical counts and promptly report any corrections or discrepancies.

Supporting Surgeons: Your ability to assist with patient positioning and surgical draping while anticipating the surgeon's needs is essential for a successful surgical process.

Effective Communication: Ensuring the efficient execution of physician's orders, whether conveyed verbally, in writing, or through stand orders, is a vital part of your role.

Seamless Transitions: You'll be responsible for overseeing a smooth patient discharge process, reviewing care instructions, and confirming logistics to leave patients with peace of mind.

Equipment and Hygiene: Properly handling oxygen therapy, suction, drainage tubes, and IVs with precision, while maintaining a clean and sterile surgical environment.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program and Surgical Technician certification.

Certifications: BLS certification is required.

Experience: Experience with instrumentation in the operating room is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level candidates.

Preferred Experience: Surgical technician experience is preferred.

Materials Management: Experience in Materials Management in a surgical setting is desired.

Survey Involvement: This position may require involvement in the preparation of State and AAAHC Surveys.

Passion: A deep passion for patient care.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions: In this role, you'll experience the rigorous yet rewarding physical demands of the job. You can expect to stand, walk, talk, and hear during your shifts. There may be occasions when you're on your feet for extended periods, involving tasks such as pushing, pulling, or moving patients on stretchers. Your work environment may expose you to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. You'll need to move all extremities within the full range of motion and perform stooping and bending at 90 degrees. Regularly, you'll lift and move objects up to 20 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision. The surgical arena features a moderate noise level, creating a professional and supportive atmosphere dedicated to patient care and your professional development.
