The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation safety, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures to comply with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of company vehicles, drivers, and facilities.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions to prevent future
occurrences.
Monitor driver compliance with safety regulations, hours of service, and drug/alcohol testing requirements.
Provide safety training, orientation, and ongoing education for drivers and other personnel.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety inspections, incidents, and compliance.
Collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving overall safety performance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters and regulatory agencies.
Keep up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in the transportation or trucking industry.
In-depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA regulations, and safety management practices.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is a plus.
