About the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC):The mission of the Indiana Arts Commission is to positively impact the cultural, economic and educational climate of Indiana by providing responsible leadership for and public stewardship of artistic resources for all of our state's citizens and communities. Role Overview: The Communications Intern for the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) supports and promotes the impact of the IAC, its programs, and services, ensuring they reach and resonate with Indiana’s people and communities, in alignment with the agency’s mission, vision, and strategic goals. The Incumbent will actively enhance program visibility by developing social media content, storytelling, and promotional toolkits for the annual grant announcement. Additionally, the Incumbent aids in planning and executing in-person training events hosted by the IAC, further advancing the agency’s commitment to fostering arts access and support. As part of the Governor’s Summer Internship (GSI) Program, the Incumbent will gain exposure to state government operations, contributing directly to the IAC’s impact while building professional skills and connections. The incumbent will be participant in bi-weekly cohort activities and programs that promote professional growth, sector exposure, and networking with peers and state officials, offering an immersive and comprehensive experience in government communications. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for arts advocacy and community engagement, an eagerness for storytelling and content creation, and an interest in serving Indiana’s constituencies. This role calls for proactive, creative thinking, and a collaborative approach. This opportunity is an in-person internship program and will take place primarily at the Indiana Arts Commission’s office located at the Indiana Government Center North (100 N Senate Avenue) in Indianapolis. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.24/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life:

Grant Recipient Final Report Review: Examine final grant reports sent by grant recipient to source engaging content for storytelling, social media, and future program promotion.

Content Development: Conduct research, pitch ideas, and write content in alignment with the agency’s Communications and Marketing objectives to support outreach and awareness.

Annual Grant Announcement Support: Assist in the annual grant announcement by creating social media content and toolkits designed to enhance promotion and storytelling for broader audience engagement.

Panelist Application Initiatives: Lead the planning execution of appreciation strategies for grant panelist, collaborating closely with agency Commissioners to Forster direct engagement and recognition.

In-Person Training Support: Facilitate the planning and execution of in-person training events hosted by the Indiana Arts Commission, ensuring smooth delivery and participant engagement.

What You'll Need for Success:

Enrollment & Academic Standing: Candidates must be a current student at an accredited college or university, having completed at least one year of undergraduate education. Fields of study such as Communications, Marketing, Arts Administration, Public Relations, or related areas are preferred.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in content creation, storytelling, or social media engagement. Ability to convey complex information clearly and compelling across various communication platforms.

Research & Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct research, identify compelling stories, and analyze program outcomes for public engagement purposes.

Project Management: Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to privatize task and work independently with minimal supervision.

Digital Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and familiar with social media platforms. Experience with digital marketing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) is a plus.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate with team members, agency staff, and external stakeholders, including Commissioners and community partners. Exhibits professionalism, creativity, and a proactive approach to tasks.

Commitment to Public Service and Arts Advocacy: Enthusiasm for supporting the arts in Indiana and working within the public sector. Commitment to promoting arts accessibility across the state.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
