This position will oversee the development, promotion, and delivery of programs and activities within Recreation Services, with a primary focus on student employee professional development. The goal of this position is to prepare student employees for successful full-time careers through skill-building, engagement, and hands-on experiences.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Program Management

Coordinate, plan, and supervise department events, programs, and initiatives to promote student learning, engagement, and development, including All Staff Training, RECSPYS (Recreation Services award program), and the Alumni Network.

Lead professional development programs for student employees, utilizing the ISU Student Affairs Career Ready framework, focusing on the eight career readiness competencies (e.g., communication, teamwork, critical thinking).

Assist in overseeing student employee hiring, onboarding, training, and certification requirements, ensuring cohesive and supportive employee experience.

Collaborate with on-campus partners and departments to develop and implement student development programs.

Work closely with department supervisors to create and promote student engagement opportunities.

Lead evaluation and assessment efforts for student development programs and provide data and reports to the Assistant Director.

Serve on departmental or division-wide committees to represent Recreation Services positively.

Personnel Management

Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Student Advisory Board members to foster leadership within the student employee body.

Assist with First Aid/CPR training and ensure employees are up to date with certification.

Promote the ISU Student Affairs Career Ready framework by incorporating the eight career readiness competencies into development plans.

Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, ownership, and collaboration among student employees, encouraging innovation and a sense of belonging.

Support well-being initiatives for student employees, emphasizing professional growth and balance.

Financial Management

Assist with managing student development funds to support professional development opportunities for student employees.

Help develop and manage the Administrative Operations budget, ensuring it reflects real-time expenses and revenues.

Collaborate with professional staff to use budget forecasting models for future capital,

Safety and Risk Management

Help develop safety training protocols for student employees, in collaboration with the Office of Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety.

Ensure adherence to university and national standards by working with Recreation Services staff to keep safety procedures up to date and well-documented.
