Position Summary: Responsible for planning, budgeting, directing, monitoring, and evaluating performance improvement functions for regulatory compliance, monitoring and implementing patient safety indicators using local and national benchmarks, leadership over policy and procedure development and maintenance and leadership for key support areas. Serves as the Quality and Safety database manager working with other Peninsula leaders to ensure the organization is in compliance with all professional and regulatory standards on an ongoing basis. Ensures that appropriate clinical practices are supported in all policies and procedures implemented by the organization. Implements and directs the system plans for Quality Management and Performance Excellence
Collaborates and works with leadership to design and implement various tools, strategies and educational initiatives to achieve desired results
Works with the Peninsula leaders on the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and standards of clinical practice.
In conjunction with the Chairman of the Behavioral Medicine Department and Medical Directors, provides oversight for quality management activities of the medical staff.
Plans and facilitates the Quality and Safety Committee and works with leadership on additional Performance Improvement teams.
Works with leaders to develop their balanced scorecards that aligns with the mission/purpose, vision, and strategic initiatives of the organization.
Oversees the analysis of quality data, ensures data is reported through the proper channels and initiates action plans based on results.
Supports the development of nursing and clinical staff development and advancement in collaboration with nursing and facility leadership.
Serves as Administrator on Call as scheduled as part of a rotation.
Serves as facility liaison to various system teams that support key operational functions.

Collaborates and works with System Risk Management and leadership to design and implement various tools, strategies and educational initiatives to achieve desired results
Responsible for ensuring appropriate reporting of unusual incidents as required by state law and other regulatory expectation.
Facilitates and oversees interdisciplinary teams such as RCA teams to achieve desired results.
Represents the behavioral health programs at risk management committee meetings of Parkwest Medical Center and Covenant Health and provides comprehensive summaries of risk management efforts to improve patient care and safety.
Serves as a research and educational resource in the areas of risk management and patient safety
Directs activities designed to minimize risk exposure such as System Improvement Reports, Risk Trending, and Physician Peer Review monitoring and reporting.
In conjunction with the Chairman of the Behavioral Medicine Department and the Medical Directors provides oversight for risk management activities of the medical staff.
Oversees the court commitment process for Peninsula Hospital.
Prepare materials for in-service/education by research and development.
Educate and provide in-service to staff by direct teaching, providing written material and skills labs.
Responsible for orientation of new patient care employees and re-orientation of present employees.
Provide one-on-one support for staff related to clinical and professional problems.
Maintain records of all employees regarding education/inservices by current file system.
Prepare and maintain resource files and materials needed to provide education for staff and patients.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
QualificationsMinimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or relevant Healthcare field degree required. Master’s degree in health or leadership related field preferred. Minimum Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience in a healthcare management /leadership role required. Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain Tennessee RN license.
