Supplemental InformationLOCATION AND POSITION INFORMATION: This position is located at the Office of State Museum in New Orleans, LA. General Description: Performs general and complex carpentry work involving the construction, alteration, repair. or maintenance in historically significant Museum buildings. Perform complex and detailed carpentry work on the Museum displays to include construction of museum galleries, display cases and exhibit area which require a high degree of precision. Build other wood items to include furniture and cabinets for specific use. 40% Build. constructs, repair alter, renovates and reproduces trim, ceilings, partitions, walls floors, shelves, cabinets, exhibits cases, windows, window screens, doors furniture, picture frames, stairs, steps, porches, spindles, banisters and other wood related items, some of which require the ability to reproduce to the original historical design and quality. 20%Will be responsible for the repair and/or install locks, windows and door glass and other security oriented devices. 15%Use table saw, power saw, joiner, wood lathes, planners, drills, sanders, mortician and other carpentry equipment and tools. Maintain same to include clean, sharpen, repairs and other general maintenance as required. 10%Fit, cuts and finishes sheetrock, installs, fits, cut paneling, plywood, frames, blinds, shutters and miscellaneous wallcoverings.10%Acts as lead worker to other trades involved in complex construction jobs s4ch as museum exhibit installation.5%Performs other related work as assigned.
