Tenants Harbor General Store is looking for someone to join our cashier team.
Starting pay is $18-$20 per hour based on experience.
The night shift pays an additional $2/hr (equaling ($20-$22 to start)
8-hour shifts receive an $8 food credit for an employee meal
AM shift is 4:45 AM-12:45 PM and Night shift is 12:15 PM-8:15 PM, nights, weekends, and holidays required.
Paid weekly on Fridays.
Full-time employees are eligible for a week (5 days) vacation after the first year and 3 personal/sick days. We also offer the following bonus program to non-management positions:
Reliability Bonus
Employees working at these locations that have no call-outs/late arrivals/early departures from their shifts from January 1, 2024, through November 16th, will receive a bonus check equal to the average hours worked weekly for the year (to date).
This will be paid out with your Dec 6, 2024 paycheck.
High-Season Bonus
Employees who work May 26, 2024, through October 26, 2024, with no call-outs/late arrivals/early departures from their shifts (during the above-mentioned timeframe) will receive a bonus check equal to one dollar for every hour worked during this period. You must be employed with us through October 26, 2024 to qualify. If you are employed after May 26, 2024, and meet all guidelines you will still qualify. This will be paid out on November 16, 2024.
Referral Bonus:
Refer someone who is hired and works for the entire high-season timeframe ( see dates above) and you will receive a $100 bonus for each qualified referral.

Job Description:
It is the cashier’s responsibility to cash customers out, collect payment, and give the correct change. The cashier has a daily checklist of store tasks to complete during their shift which can include but is not limited to, stocking the cooler and shelves, assisting with inventory (display and counting), cleaning, and assisting with the coffee station.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:
Follow the cashier checklist each shift and check off completed tasks
Count drawer before starting shift
Must be outgoing and greet customers with a smile
Assist customers and answer their questions (including getting fish, meat, and lobsters)
Operate electronic scanners, cash registers, and other related equipment
Receive and disburse money
Process credit and debit card transactions
Follow basic cleaning check-off lists
When necessary receive deliveries
Put away deliveries as directed (first-in, first-out method)
Stock the store and cooler with back stock (first-in, first-out method)
Answer all phone calls
Keep the dumpster area clean and organized at all times
Count down drawer at the end of the shift, fill out the lottery and newspaper paperwork, empty all
trashcans and lock the money and cigarette cabinets and the lottery trays
May be expected to unlock/lock and disarm/arm the store depending on whom you are working with
Clean bathroom

Excellent communication skills – Great smile!
Be on time for your shifts
Availability - Must be able to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and possible overtime
Able to stand for long periods of time and lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Able to communicate politely and professionally with the customers and co-workers
Must be patient, helpful, and able to problem solve
Ability to follow instructions and work as a team
Ability to stock and organize in the walk-in cooler set to 38 degrees or less
Attention to detail
Must have basic mathematical abilities
Have knowledge of the items for sale in the store and the businesses and attractions in the area
Be willing to learn, we will train you on anything you don't know.
