Tenants Harbor General Store is looking for someone to join our deli department.

Starting pay is $18+ per hour based on experience.

Night shift pays an additional $2/hr (making it $20+ per hour to start)

Day shift is 4:45 am - 12:45 pm | Night shift is 12:15 pm-8:15 pm, nights and weekends required.

Weekly pay each Friday.

Full-time employees are eligible for a week (5 days) vacation after the first year and 3 personal/sick days. We also offer the following bonus program to non-management positions:

Reliability Bonus

Employees working at these locations that have no call-outs/late arrivals/early departures from their shifts from January 1, 2024, through November 16th, will receive a bonus check equal to the average hours worked weekly for the year (to date).

This will be paid out with your Dec 6, 2024 paycheck.

High-Season Bonus

Employees who work May 26, 2024, through October 26, 2024, with no call-outs/late arrivals/early departures from their shifts (during the above-mentioned timeframe) will receive a bonus check equal to one dollar for every hour worked during this period. You must be employed with us through October 26, 2024 to qualify. If you are employed after May 26, 2024, and meet all guidelines you will still qualify. This will be paid out on November 16, 2024.

Referral Bonus:

Refer someone who is hired and works for the entire high-season timeframe ( see dates above) and you will receive a $100 bonus for each qualified referral.

Job Description:

Deli workers keep the grab-and-go sandwich cooler stocked with sandwiches, green salads, pasta salads, dessert cups, and various grab-and-go items. Keeping the pizza spinner stocked with breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos in the morning, switching over to lunch stock such as; pizzas, hot lunch specials, hot dogs, and various hot grab-and-go food for the spinner throughout the day. Keeping all pastries and baked goods stocked at the coffee table. Keeping the pasta salad/entrée cooler stocked. Making sure the Deli is clean and stocked at all times. Complete customer orders within the store or by phone, and be comfortable taking credit card payments over the phone.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

Must arrive on time to shift and stay until scheduled

Know both opening and closing procedures for the Deli

During your shift, you are responsible for the overall operation of the Deli

Always be attentive to your customers, the customer always comes first. Be friendly and smile!

Always follow the Deli recipe book. Do not deviate

As directed by management, keep a record of food cost and waste in the log in the ‘Deli Employee Binder’

Prepare baked goods

Prepare “lunch specials”

Prepare baked goods for other company entities as needed

Complete your daily checklist of tasks

Log the cooler/freezer temperature logs during your shift – at the beginning of your shift and the end of your shift.

Make sure all sandwich and pizza prep food is stocked in the sandwich station and ready to go for the next shift, always prepare a backup of vegetables in the walk-in, be sure to date all backup stock

Use PLU machine to label and price deli items correctly

During your shift you are responsible for the overall operation of the sandwich station, grab n’ go cooler, meat case, Boar’s Head case, and seafood case

Keep coolers clean and full – always rotate old in the front, new in the back

Always keep the kitchen clean and the dishes; pots, pans, and utensils washed and organized

Abide by the training received on proper food preparation, kitchen safety techniques, and health standards

Using a meat slicer for prepping the deli and for customer orders

Empty both trashcans in the Deli as needed and at the end of the shift

Vacuum and mop the deli and walk-in cooler floors

Make sure the Deli is clean and all trash is removed for the next employee to arrive

Put away Deli deliveries by stocking coolers/walk-in shelves in the Deli;

Keep the stock room and coolers neat, clean, and free from debris

break down cardboard boxes and dispose of them in the cardboard shed

Store empty plastic milk and soda crates in the dumpster area

During slow seasons you will be expected to assist with general store tasks outside of the deli as needed. These tasks may consist of (but are not limited to) assisting with store inventory, stocking beverage coolers, and putting away deliveries.

Be on time for your shifts, and always stay until the time you are scheduled to leave

Strong attention to detail

Strong customer service skills

Ability to work and contribute in a team-oriented environment

Ability to work and contribute with minimal supervision

Ability to stand for long periods, bend, and squat

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds

Ability to stock and organize in the walk-in cooler set to 38 degrees or less

Know the items for sale in the store and the businesses and attractions in the area

Availability - Must be able to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and possible overtime
