GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Paralegal will primarily be responsible for oversight for the new EHOLC requirements. This role will be a critical support in housing-related legal matters, including tenants’ rights, evictions dense, and housing discrimination cases. This role involves extensive client interaction, legal research, document preparation, and case management. The Paralegal will have a strong understanding of housing laws, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Essential Job Functions:

Ensure timely delivery of vacate shelter letters and follow up with secondary notices.

Manage requests for extensions and follow up notices.

Execute legal notices and documentation to support Centerboard's operations.

Conduct legal research on housing laws, regulations, and precedents, and present findings to supervising attorneys.

Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and correspondence related to housing cases.

Organize and maintain case files, ensuring proper filing and accessibility of documents.

Track case deadlines and ensure timely compliance with EHOLC requirements.

Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies, ensuring adherence to deadlines and procedural requirements.

Assist with preparing for legal meetings, hearings, and documentation.

Perform general administrative tasks like managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.

Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program is a plus. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in housing law or a related field.
