The Housekeeping Supervisor assumes the responsibility of Quality Inspections, training, documentation and accountability of facility, as it relates to the proper cleaning of all hostel grounds. Position requires desire and flexibility to step in to cover shifts including afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Create and distribute tasks for housekeeping team

Check assigned tasks for quality and cleanliness

Support Housekeeping Manager with administrative tasks and coverage

Communicate with maintenance and report any issues in the building

Clean common spaces, kitchens, bathrooms, and rooms as assigned. Includes cleaning walls, floors, mirrors, and windows; dusting paintings, window sills, furniture, counters, and door frames; vacuum, mop, and buff floors as needed.

Process linens in laundry operation as needed

Empty trash and clean operations offices on a daily basis

Clean common restrooms, hallways, kitchens, lounges and lobby areas

Follow HI Quality Standards and Procedures.

Maintain proper linen pars, chemicals, and amenity inventories. Conducts inventories as assigned and recommends purchases of products, remaining within budget.

Conduct monthly and quarterly housekeeping inventories on a timely basis.

Ensure guest privacy and security.

Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.

Conducts department training on a regular basis in conjunction with OSHA and HI Quality Standards, including cleaning techniques and safe use of cleaning products.

Maintain hostel SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for cleaning chemicals.

Check all HVAC units in the building and alert Maintenance of any problems.

Other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Skills/Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and minimum 2 years of housekeeping experience, or equivalent experience

Ability to speak and understand Spanish

Leadership skills

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Attention to detail

Customer service and problem resolution skills

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to multi-task

Minimum six months of hostel or hotel experience preferred.
