Senior Scientist-Ultrasound Imaging

The Senior Scientist-Ultrasound Imaging will play a critical role in ensuring an exceptional level of image quality, clinical performance, workflow, and advanced intelligence, through the design, development, and integration of new Ultrasound Imaging systems and transducers.Your role:

Apply acoustic wave propagation and signal processing theory to the design and specification of new imaging algorithms and imaging sub-systems.

Leading development and implementation of new ultrasound imaging capabilities, including development plans, algorithm design, integration strategy, and SW implementation.

Apply Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to improve ultrasound imaging performance. Research network architecture and training methods optimal for specific clinical applications and customer needs. Develop data augmentation methods based on ultrasound physics and imaging artifacts. Develop and participate in ultrasound feasibility and research projects, especially using deep learning and AI techniques to enhance ultrasound image clarity, increase frame rate and/or reduce computational complexity.

Tune diagnostic ultrasound systems for optimum image quality on a range of transducers and imaging features. Also, work closely with customers to understand their needs and evaluation of new designs.

Reporting to the Image Formation Group Leader, you will collaborate cross-functionally with R&D team members, Marketing, Product Management and Internal/External stakeholders to define new feature requirements to meet specific clinical applications/market needs and translate marketing/customer requirements into engineering specifications.

You're the right fit if:

You’ve acquired a minimum of 5 years’ experience in ultrasound research and/or product development, including acoustics, ultrasound beamforming, antenna design/modeling, optimal acquisition design, signal/ image processing, clinical science, and translational research, including scientific publications.

Your skills include Clinical Research, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Learning and strong software skills in-MATLAB, C/C, GPU programming with CUDA or OpenCL, OpenCV and Python.

You have a minimum of a PhD (Required) in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent disciplines.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations. Philips Transparency Details:

The pay range for this position in Cambridge, MA is $130,000 to $223,000.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.  In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.
