Role Summary: The Senior Manager, Clinical Procurement is responsible for driving sourcing and procurement activities supporting global clinical trials and development programs. This role partners closely with Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Legal, and Finance to develop and execute sourcing strategies, negotiate complex contracts, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality services from external suppliers. The individual will drive value through cost optimization, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies. This role requires strategic thinking, strong stakeholder engagement, and deep knowledge of clinical trial procurement. Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Sourcing & Category Management (40%)Develop and execute sourcing strategies for clinical trial services (e.g., CROs, central labs, biometrics, imaging, eCOA, specialty vendors)Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing events including RFI/RFP/RFQ processesDrive competitive bidding, cost benchmarking, and total cost of ownership analysisEstablish and maintain category strategies aligned with clinical development plansOwnership and maintenance of assigned clinical subcategories/studiesContracting & Negotiation (25%)Lead negotiation of Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and change orders (COs)Partner with Legal to ensure contract terms align with company risk tolerance and compliance requirementsPartner with stakeholders to ensure contracts are fit for purpose to support the appropriate clinical categoriesEnsure timely execution of contracts to support clinical trial timelines within agreed cycle timesIdentify and mitigate contractual and commercial risksStakeholder Engagement & Program Support (20%)Serve as a trusted business partner to Clinical Operations and cross-functional teamsProvide procurement guidance to study teams across the clinical asset lifecycleSupport study startup timelines through proactive planning and supplier alignmentCommunicate sourcing strategies, timelines, and risks to key stakeholdersSupplier Management & Operational Excellence (15%)Drive continuous improvement initiatives and supplier innovationEnsure adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and systems (e.g., P2P processes)Contribute to cross functional support of vendor governanceSupport audit and inspection readiness and maintain compliance with GxP requirementsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned
