Looking for a flexible caregiver/companion (Dexter/Ann Arbor area) for our 22 yr. old Autistic son, he is happy and energetic and loves music, going for walks, bowling and playing on the computer. He is partially non-verbal (knows and can say certain words but not conversational). Summer hours would be 9am-3pm(ish) M-F with hours on the weekends available as well. Job would start first week of June, and if you wanted to start sooner, we have hours available immediately. Responsibilities include helping him work on life skills at home (preparing a snack, table manners), working on writing and communication skills, and lots of fun community outings (bowling, shopping, sports, etc.) Some training is provided, but experience with special needs children/adults is preferred. This is the perfect opportunity for a college-age student going into special education or just someone with a heart for helping out others who has some experience working with Autistic adults. References and personal transportation are necessary.
