ResponsibilitiesIn collaboration with 11W (General and moderate care) team, manages acute and critically ill pre and post-surgical infants and children with cardiology abnormalities

Perform detailed history and physical examinations

Order and interpret diagnostic tests, radiographs, and clinical studies.

Order/prescribe and titrate medications.

Perform various diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures.

Maintain continuity of care

Collaborate with providers/consultants to coordinate clinical care.

Document patient status, evaluation, and treatment plan

Facilitate patient transfer across levels of care, including writing discharge orders and communicating specific patient needs to team members.

Provide education for patients, families, staff.

Participation in quality assurance activities.

Note: This is a 40 hour/week position (1.0 FTE). This position will include weekends. The team will begin on day shift with likely eventual transition to night and day shifts. Shift hours will generally be 7am-5pm 4 days per week.Required QualificationsNurse Practitioner

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan

Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

Current DEA registration required

AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment

Two (2) years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, cardiology, or pediatric intensive care unit setting

Physician Assistant

Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.

Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.

State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required

Current DEA registration required

AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment

Two (2) years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, cardiology, or pediatric intensive care unit setting
