ResponsibilitiesSupervision
Supervise morning central sterilization and dispensing staff, monitor instrument processing, and resolve staffing concerns.
Assists the manager with hiring, evaluation, counseling, and termination of staff.
Coordinates workflow and services between departments
Assists in the resolution of operating problems
Direct supervision (receiving, decontaminating, cleaning, assembly, sterilizing, and distributing surgical or procedural instruments and packs).
Collaborate with and act as a liaison with other departments to support and facilitate safe and effective patient care.
Operations
Prepare and assist with daily operations
Assist dispensing staff in assembling pre-orders when needed
Monitor and uphold department inventory levels and supplies; Assess inventory status and place supply orders
Assist with damaged or broken instruments, including burblocks, cassette replacement, etc.
Assist with replacing damaged barcoding
Load damaged goods for repair
Compliance
Maintains safety standards to ensure compliance
Assures adherence to all quality systems, checks, and measures
Monitors and maintains sterilization documentation
Assure dispensing and central sterilization units are appropriately secured
Promotes a safe and healthy work environment
Ensure that the sterilization parameters are met and the instruments are safe for use.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 years of supervisory experience in a health care environment that includes facilitating personnel issues.
Considerable experience providing high-level support with attention to detail and follow-through.
Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced environment. Excellent organizational skills. Strong computer skills and word processing skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in a dental or health care environment.
Basic knowledge of principles of instrument sterilization, dental materials, dental instruments and dental equipment.
Certified in sterilization procedures crcst or CIS certified.
