Work at Michigan Medicine and become a victor for the greater good.What Benefits can you Look Forward to?Nursing at Michigan offers a competitive salary with excellent benefits!Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses $41.44 - $64.45 / hourEvening Shift Differential- $3.00 / hourNight Shift Differential- $4.00 / hourDay Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hourEvening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hourNight Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hourCharge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hourThe benefit package includes:Excellent medical, dental and vision coverage2:1 Match on retirement savings and immediate vestingGenerous Paid Time Off AllowancesRobust Tuition and Certification support programsLarge offering of no cost CEs and professional development for advancementResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Provide culturally sensitive, age-specific team-based care models in delivering nursing care for the Radiation Oncology patient population.Multitask to deliver excellent patient care while facilitating efficient through put across the clinic as it relates to procedural care for brancytherapy (GYN, Prostate, ect.), high dose radiation specificallyWork with several procedural teams comprised of faculty, nurse practitioner, clinical physicist, medical assistant and other constituents in collaborative departments (OBGYN, Urology, etc.)Collaborate daily with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and radiation therapists.Direct interaction with caring of patients pre, post and during procedures.Documentation and patient education regarding treatments, procedures, side effects, etc. Patient education plays an intricate role in the overall success of the procedure, aids the patients? recovery and is essential to this role, as well as the patient experience.Access ports for procedures, initiate IVs and assessments for contrast administration.Assessment and management of side effects of radiation.Coordination of care for patients including telephone triage and care during transfers.Development of educational initiatives, teambuilding, and ensuring patient care is executed at the highest standards using evidence-based practice.Colloborate with pre-op, OR, PACU, Anesthesia teams to coordinate care of patient.ExpectationsDemonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals.Demonstrated accountability and dependability including a good attendance record with punctuality.Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.Demonstrated knowledge and skills providing patient and family education and reinforcement related to oncologic conditions including, but not limited to, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, oral therapy, infusion, etc.Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.Willingness to adapt to different populations within the Radiation Oncology team as patient demands require.
