Research Lab Specialist AssocApply NowSummaryThe Department of Emergency Medicine Research is searching for a highly-motivated Lab Specialist to work in the Sanderson Lab at NCRC. Their research focuses on basic science and translational research focused on cardiac arrest/resuscitation and perinatal brain injury. Specific areas of current focus include mechanisms of neuronal injury and neuroprotective therapies. The candidate should have previous experience working with large animals in a research setting as well ass previous surgical experience. The individual will play a primary role in the day-to-day operations associated with large animal surgery. Additional responsibilities will include post-surgical care of swine. The applicant will work closely with several research faculty and other research staff in an established lab at NCRC.ResponsibilitiesConduct large animal surgeries under the direction of the PI and lab manager as well as postoperative care. Assists in the collection of physiological data in a complexed surgical setting. Maintains lab records, stocking solutions, histology, data collection and analysis, behavioral testing and other lab duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field and at least 1-year previous experience with swine in a laboratory setting.Desired QualificationsMaster's degree in biology, animal science, or related scientific degree and experience with animals and animal surgery. Three or more years of previous experience with swine. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and time management skills, good communication skill, ability to work with minimal supervision, and strong enthusiasm for developing new skills and expertise.Work ScheduleFull time Monday thru Friday.
