The Grant Services & Analysis Office (GS&A) in partnership with OGPS is seeking an experienced Research Administration professional to provide Training Grant support and guidance NIH funded training grant programs. Working closely with the Training Grant Faculty Director and the Assistant Director of Training Grants, the Training Grant Specialist position will work with faculty/staff across units providing guidance, education, and serving as a central resource for faculty and administrators engaged in NIH funded training programs.Mission StatementMichigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. We strive to create a work culture where each team member feels respected, valued, and safe.Who We are Looking For:We are looking for a Research Administrator Senior or Intermediate to support our unit and successfully submit and procure sponsored awards. The chosen candidate will coordinate information and training to the administrators that support training grants, specifically NIH T32s. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about research administration, is able to work independently, and a reliable problem solver with a positive attitude.ResponsibilitiesThis position has responsibility for serving as source for best practices regarding Training Grant Administration by leading education and training for faculty and staff engaged in NIH training grants by:

Designing and facilitate training in collaboration or consultation with Faculty Director or other staff including but not limited to:

(Bi-annual) Workshops for PIs and RAs (NIH updates, available support services). This service may include logistics and coordination with the community on behalf of the Training Grant office

Quarterly roundtables (updates and specialized topics) for Research Administrators.

Intentional focus on new Training Grant teams regarding NIH requirements, grant application and review processes

Providing education and support for application and program management:

Pre-award application - NIH instructions and guidelines (orientation to and ongoing training)

Post-award requirements/tasks:

Monitoring account finances

Appointing trainees

Collecting cost-share

Award close-out

Population and roll-out of the T32 management tools within the new system adopted by OGPS

Providing guidance and resources & tools to cultivate compliance such as:

Adherence to timelines; checklists

Compliance with all items required for RPPR

This position is also responsible for providing 1-1 consultation to mentor, train, assist and guide new TG Research Administrators, providing content for website and resources such as how-to guides and templates and serving as a liaison with Medical School and campus offices that oversee research administrative and reporting requirements for training grants.Required Qualifications

Senior Level requires a minimum of 5 - 7 years progressively responsible experience in research administration as well as a Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational and work experience. Experience with budgeting, assembling, and managing complex projects is desired.

Intermediate Level requires at least 4 - 5 years progressively responsible experience in research administration as well as a Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational and work experience. Experience with budgeting, assembling, and managing complex projects is desired.

Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, and work in a collaborative team environment is required.

The ideal candidate values working in a team and service-based environment, with the ability to work independently, demonstrating a high of resourcefulness, motivation and accountability. Attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and displaying a service-oriented attitude are essential.

Additionally, demonstrated communication skills, a willingness to counsel others on matters related to training grants, and a strong sense of developing community across units with challenges related to training grant programs.

Candidates should desire to work in a team environment with the ability to work across multiple units.

Experience with electronic proposal submission systems and xTrain preferred.
