We are looking for shovel crew leaders with their own vehicles and their own workers for snow shoveling in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
You will be given a route. If you take care of your route, it will always be yours to take care of. If you don't, your route will be taken from you and given to another crew.
REQUIREMENTS:
Be willing and able to shovel lots of snow.
Own a high-profile 4 wheel drive or front wheel drive vehicle with good tires. Must have room for at least 5 people (you and 4 other people) and room for 6 shovels (1 spare). I will give you the shovels.
Have a valid driver's license.
Have insurance and current tags on your vehicle.
Be a good leader.
Have a smartphone.
Be available 24/7 during and after snow events.
Be willing to work long hours in a heavy snow event.
Be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fueling your own vehicle.
Be willing to sign a liability waiver and a non-compete agreement.
Be responsible for recruiting, leading, and paying your crew members. These are your workers, not Hillside's.
LOCATION:
We meet before and after each snow event here:
Denny's
3310 Washtenaw Ave.
Ann Arbor, MI 48104
Denny's itself is now closed, but we still meet in the parking lot in front of Denny's.
PAYMENT:
You will be paid cash at the end of the snow event before you go home.
You will be paid $36/hour, plus $18/hour for each helper you bring. Example: You plus 4 helpers = 5 man crew = $36 + $18 + $18 + $18 + $18 = $108/hour paid to you. What you pay your helpers is between you and them.
After you finish your route (as a routeholder), you will then be paid time-and-a-half if you work on another route.
We only pay for the helpers we see before AND after. If you take a helper home early, you need to show them to us first for them to count.
We will give you a spare shovel in case you break one. If you break one, that's fine, but we need every shovel back. For every shovel you don't bring back, we will take $40 out of your pay.
You will get a $100 bonus if you finish your route, get no customer complaints, and then finish your route again the next storm Hillside goes out for.
If you finish your route again the next storm, having received no complaints from the previous storm, you get ANOTHER $100 bonus, and so on, every storm.
You can earn ONE bonus per storm. A multi-pass storm counts as one storm.
If you earn a bonus, but then don't finish your route the next storm, you lose that bonus.
If another crew helps you finish your route, that still counts as finishing your route, as long as you don't abandon your route.
Consolation Bonus: If you meet all the conditions, but get ONE complaint, you will get a $50 bonus. If you get two or more complaints, you will not get a bonus.
Blizzard Bonus: As long as you don't abandon your route at any point during a storm of 3 or more full passes, you will get an extra $100 when you are paid at the end of the blizzard.
ALL BONUSES EARNED IN FEBRUARY WILL BE DOUBLED.
ALL BONUSES EARNED IN MARCH WILL BE TRIPLED.
The size/duration of each snow event will determine the size of your crew. For the average storm, you will be working about 8 hours and driving roughly 20-30 miles.
