LOVE WALKING OUTDOORS?
Hillside is looking for canvassers to pass out “Stick-it” doorhangers in neighborhoods in Ann Arbor and West Ypsi. To ensure accountability, your movements will be tracked with the jogging app "Map My Run", by Under Armour.
WHEN:
We'll start Wednesday 10/29, and finish up around mid November, depending on how things go. There's a chance we'll finish in early November, but most likely they'll still be work into late November. You can work whenever you want, as much as you want, as long as it’s not dark out and it’s not Sunday.
WHERE:
I’ll meet you at the old Denny's/new Chick-fil-a at 3310 Washtenaw Ave to give you your doorhangers in a cloth carry bag, and pay you for any documented work. I will be in a white F-150 in the parking lot by the bus stop. I will be there from 6pm-8pm Wednesday-Saturday the first week of canvassing. After the first week, I will meet canvassers by appointment only. If you call me before heading over, I probably be able to meet you there.
HOW:
You’ll be working on your own. You’ll be given a link to an online map outlining the zone you’ll be canvassing. We're only doing HOUSES. Don't do condos, apartments, stores, or anything else. Don't do Houses on main streets. It will be your responsibility to get yourself to those neighborhoods. You’ll be walking door to door sticking the doorhangers on the doors. It’s important not to stick the doorhangers on hand painted surfaces. If the door is hand painted, the doorhanger should be stuck on a nearby appropriate surface to avoid damage.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must love walking. You may listen to music if you want while you canvass. I personally find canvassing to be quite enjoyable while listening to standup comedy.
Be responsible for your own transportation.
Sign a liability Waiver.
Have a smartphone.
Download "Map My Run"
Be OK with being tracked geographically while working. If you’re looking to cheat a company by not delivering to every house/street so you can just chill somewhere while getting paid, this is not the company for you. With "Map My Run", you create a literal trail on the map (see picture above) of everywhere you walk, until you end the "Run". The “ping” points along the trail are accurate to within several meters.
Feel free to take as many breaks as you want, for as long as you want, but you will only be paid for your time spent actually passing out doorhangers in the neighborhoods. You will not be paid for travel to, from, or between neighborhoods.
PAY:
You will be paid $15/hour cash.
You will be paid at the end of the day for any past work documented on the app.
