Job Description
Underground Construction Drill Team
Our Underground (UG) Crews are responsible for installing telecommunications lines in the right of way (R.O.W.) & within private easements by utilizing directional boring equipment (Ditch Witch or Vermeer). We are looking for UG foreman, operators, locators & laborers to build new teams.
Foreman responsibilities:
Applicant will be asked to exposing utilities, restore landscape, place fiber to name a few.
Applicant must have valid driver’s license.
Follow instructions, and specifications to determine work activities.
Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
Keep detailed record of work activity.
Communicate with site Foreman.
Maintain proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignment.
Assist with loading of various materials onto trucks and/or trailers.
Operate vehicle, following all safety and traffic regulations.
Keep work areas clean and organized.
Any and all other duties assigned by supervisor
Laborer responsibilities:
Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment
This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding
Adding or removing drill rods (if necessary)
Any and all other duties assigned by supervisor/foreman
Beneficial experience (Will train the right person):
Hand & power tool experience
Basic blueprint reading & construction drawings experience
Familiarity with permits & inspection process
Cable pulling & inner duct installation experience
Field survey experience
Utility locating
MDOT experience
Traffic control
Manhole & confined spaces experience
Ability to observe, analyze and take appropriate action to identify and correct potential workplace safety issues, hazardous behaviors and other potential areas of risk
Dependable & able to understand and follow directions
Strong organizational skills
Ability to professionally communicate with co-workers, homeowners, customers & the general public
