Looking for a new laborer or carpenter to help a small but established construction company specializing in historic restoration, structural repair and remodeling. The work is hard and dirty, but you get to build something with your own hands that lasts. AI will not take this job away.
Applicants should:
-Be dependable. The best ability is reliability.
-Be healthy and fit. We are on our feet or ladders or in uncomfortable positions all day.
-Be presentable and courteous. We often work in and talk to clients while working in or on their homes.
-Have transportation, or at minimum, the ability to get to various job sites within 30 miles of Ann Arbor.
-Not be afraid of heights or enclosed spaces.
-Be able to read a tape measure and do basic math. If you can do geometry and simple trig, that would be nice but not required.
-Be able to work safely.
We do a lot of varied and sometimes really cool, unique work, so the job can be a great learning experience that can eventually be a lifelong career. (I've been doing it for 36 years now and it has been good to me at least.)
$25/hr to start. More for experience, but you have to prove it to me first. If you are a good, smart carpenter that works efficiently on a variety of projects you will be up above $30 quickly.
We usually work between 30-40 hours per week. I don't do overtime, so if you hit 40 you go home unless it is some kind of emergency.
