We create with passion, delivering extraordinary solutions to change the world.VEHICLE MASS AND CAPABILITY STRATEGY:o Advance the Mass Strategy through the application of systems engineering principles in collaboration with the Vehicle Dynamics, Global Trailer Tow, Body and Chassis Engineering, Fuel Economy and Emissions, Aerodynamics, performance, and Safety Engineering teams.o Create and manage the Mass and Load Capabilities Strategy to provide a competitive position against other OEM products.o Advocate for the implementation of the strategy with senior managementWhat You'll Do…MASS MODELING & PREDICTION:o Perform Mass Property predictions utilizing Ford processes for parametric and analytical methodso Determine the mass distribution and inertia characteristics that are primary inputs for all subsequent modeling and analysis, including Structural, NVH, Ride and Handling, Crash and Rollover Safetyo Provide mass calculations for Vehicles Loads and ground reactions in various loading conditionso Manage data in support of legal labeling and spring selectionREGULATORY COMPLIANCE AND GLOBAL HOMOLOGATION:o Perform calculations of all Masses and Ratings required on Regulatory Load Rating Labels and for legal Homologation for global markets.o Ensure the Vehicle Platform is capable and compatible with all consumer content described in Program Direction and Marketing documentation. Provide strategic direction to the Program Team to resolve any incompatibilities and ensure customer satisfaction and legal compliance.VERIFICATION OF MASS MODEL:o Perform statistical analysis of vehicle and commodity level mass measurements.o Determine the level of data integrity and finalize analysis in support of compliance demonstration.o Evaluate failure modes in the verification process and lead projects to remediate.o Lead the Vehicle Mass Witness Testing required for globally homologated vehicles.o Occasional travel to assembly plants or global engineering worksites may be a possibility.AUTHORING AND MANAGING INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY FACING INFORMATION:o Author recommendations to Program, Certification Engineering and federal labeling requirementso Collaborate with Safety and Environmental Engineering on inquiries from global legal authorities, including ECC Technical Services (Europe), NHTSA/EPA (North America), CTARC (China)o Support Marketing requirements for public facing mass information.You'll Have…The minimum requirements we seek:-Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required-5+ years of experience in the ground transportation or aerospace industries in an engineering/analytical capacityEven Better You'll Have…-Functional understanding of powertrain, chassis, body structure and electrical systems-Understanding of vehicle architecture, standard vehicle materials properties (e.g. steels, aluminum, plastics, etc.), and assembly plant end-of-line processes-Knowledge of applied systems engineering, interface management, multi-attribute optimization-Background in applied statistics or Six Sigma subject areas, experience in Minitab-Demonstrated leadership of collaborative/distributed global teams-Solid Understanding of CAE tools (e.g. CATIA, Teamcenter, etc.)-Self-directed, confident individual with excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeYou may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice.
