Field Technology Specialist

Job SummaryImplements and supports technology for a specified field geographic region. Oversees usage and control of equipment and the reporting of metrics and performance data from field operations.Essential Functions Maintains asset control by verifying and communicating company procedures and policies to prevent equipment loss or damage. Works with local teams to determine root cause of equipment loss or damage and develop procedures to address issues. Manages new hardware and software rollouts and upgrades to our handheld technologies, often concurrently, by interfacing with assigned District staff member Ensures field technology systems function as expected. Manages the deployment of new field technology systems including training and demonstrations to district staff; troubleshooting and reporting issues to PGH support teams. Manages new technology system development by actively participating in field pilot testing; gathers, summarizes, and shares pilot testing information with Information Technology staff. Meets key metrics for scanner transmissions of customer data, equipment control, process compliance, timeliness of technology upgrades and equipment recalls and communicating results to Regional Vice President and District Managing Directors. Recommends and implements changes in methods, equipment, systems. Provides on-site support for station relocations and new facilities to ensure systems and scanners are working and connecting. Assists field in processing requests for equipment and asset allocations. Serves as liaison between Engineering and end users in the field. Participates on cross-functional teams. NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs other duties as assignedMinimum Education High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Technology related field preferredMinimum Experience Three (3) years of experience required in FedEx Ground field operations with knowledge of operational systems.Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications. Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management. Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals. Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations.
