System One is currently seeking a skilled Trailer Technician for a direct hire opportunity in Midland, MI. Summary: Our trailer mechanics work to keep trailers and other vehicles in sound mechanical condition. Technicians will service, inspect, diagnose and repair trailer bodies, systems and components. Job Duties:
Performing preventative maintenance measures on tanks and trailers.
Assembling and dissembling equipment and cleaning the fuel tanks.
Maintaining hubs and axles and adjusting or replacing them when required.
Inspecting, servicing, and replacing trailer parts, including tires.
Checking and repairing the brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Testing all systems and equipment for performance issues.
Ensuring that trailers meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements.
Compiling inspection reports, documenting repairs, and reporting all findings to management.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of tank/trailer repair experience.
High School Diploma or GED required
Must be living in the area - not open to candidates that have to relocate
Demonstrated skill in most of the following areas:
The ability to diagnose failures and make repairs on mechanical, electrical or other various systems on a trailer.
Tank service and repair
Experience with air brake systems and repairs
TIG aluminum, stainless or carbon welding experience
Ability to effectively and efficiently inspect tanks and trailers to align with DOT standards (HM183, hazmat)
A working knowledge A.B.S. systems
Basic computer skills
Must be able to fit through a tank trailer manhole
Must be able to work in confined spaces.
At least 18 years of age
Able to pass a drug test and background check
Be authorized to work in the United States
