Job DescriptionResponsible for the efficient, ethical, and lawful operation of a pharmacy, including compounding and dispensing prescription medications. Supervise essential compounding duties, including operating equipment and sterile compounding in a cleanroom. Oversee medication preparation, shipping/receiving of prescriptions, and advise veterinarians on medication use and storage. Manage pharmaceutical ingredient supplies and supervise pharmacy technicians.Responsibilities
Support the Pharmacist-in-Charge and manage all aspects of the compounding pharmacy.
Efficiently and accurately receive prescription requests from veterinarians.
Dispense compounded medications as prescribed.
Supervise accurate compounding, packaging, and labeling of medications.
Provide medication consultations to veterinarians.
Order, stock, maintain, and reconcile pharmacy inventory.
Review and validate prescriptions before dispensing.
Ensure proper handling of outdated/damaged products.
Maintain pharmacy records, including patient profiles and prescription records.
Lead and oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Communicate concerns to the Pharmacist-in-Charge.
Maintain a clean and organized facility.
Stay updated on legal regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
Recommend process improvements and ensure regulatory compliance.
Comply with federal and state regulations.
Participate in Quality Assurance activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree.
Minnesota Pharmacist License.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Strong multi-tasking, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Good leadership abilities with the capability to work in a hands-on environment.
Maintain pharmacist license(s) and complete required continuing education hours.
Experience with aseptic techniques.
Experience in compounding.
Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing pharmacist duties, physical demands include lifting and moving up to 50 pounds frequently, standing and walking for extended periods, and frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and turning. The work environment has a moderate to high noise level.
