Job Overview:
The Tax Preparer will be responsible for assisting clients in preparing accurate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves reviewing financial records, conducting interviews with clients, and applying tax law to ensure maximum refund or minimal tax liability. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and file individual and business tax returns (Form 1040, Schedule C, etc.)
Review financial documents such as income statements, receipts, and previous tax returns
Conduct interviews with clients to gather detailed financial information
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Assist clients with tax planning to minimize tax liabilities and maximize refunds
Respond to IRS inquiries and handle client audits if necessary
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes and new regulations
Provide guidance and advice on tax-related matters
Maintain accurate and organized client records
Collaborate with the team to provide seamless and comprehensive services
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a tax preparer (2+ years preferred)
Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, QuickBooks, etc.)
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients simultaneously
Certification as an IRS-registered tax preparer (PTIN) is required
CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is a plus, but not mandatory
