This includes ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining internal controls, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPayroll Processing:
Process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including Union, Salary & Hourly and commission-based compensation using Vista and ADP WFN.
Ensure accurate and timely payment of wages, deductions, and benefits.
Review and verify timekeeping records to ensure accuracy before payroll processing.
Compliance and Reporting:
Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
Prepare and submit required payroll reports to government agencies and other stakeholders.
Manage and ensure accurate filing of payroll taxes and compliance with tax regulations.
Ensure accurate reporting of garnishments, child support orders and compliance with State & Federal regulations.
Maintain Internal Controls in accordance with Kraus-Anderson policies and procedures.
Respond to various audit requests for payroll related information and documentation.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll documentation.
Customer Service:
Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries to include job cost and labor utilization and issues promptly and professionally.
Provide training and support to employees on timekeeping and payroll systems.
Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain employee files, manage employee status changes, and enrollments.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and documentation.
Maintain confidential employee and company information.
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
Reconcile financial data for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and ensuring compliance with established accounting practices.
System Management:
Troubleshoot and resolve any system-related issues affecting payroll processing.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
Develop ad hoc reporting to meet end user needs as requested.
Maintain working knowledge of changes to payroll related rates, legal statutes, and other necessary updates.
Investigate discrepancies, errors, issues, and other areas of concern related to payroll and develop proposed solutions based on findings.
Performs other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent with coursework in accounting
Two+ years payroll experience
Must be able to follow standard filing procedures
Strong knowledge of payroll processing, wage laws, and tax regulations
Detail oriented, professional, and reliable
Possess strong problem solving and communication skills
Possess strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to assume and prioritize multiple priorities
Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
Drive for continuous improvement
Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Associates Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
Experience with union payroll preferred
Experience with construction payroll preferred
Experience using an enterprise accounting solution for payroll, such as ViewPoint and ADP
