Senior IT Manager - Data EngineeringLocation:· Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)The Senior Manager of Data Engineering is responsible for day-to-day technical management and delivery of assigned functions, projects, or programs, data infrastructure and pipelines for a key financial system.The senior manager will also lead Technology Modernization, Capability Maturity, and talent development for their area of responsibility.What you do· Providing day-to-day work direction, including allocating work; coordinating team capacity; and serving as an escalation point to ensure success in the assigned area.· Providing subject matter expertise, including assessment of new processes for alignment with technical areas; preparing and presenting recommendations for process improvements; and performing complex analyses or project management related to assigned areas.· Managing vendors and service partners, which includes reviewing vendor technical work product; managing vendors and service partners to service level agreements; and approving vendor billings.· Providing feedback to team members on performance, teamwork, and related items for talent development· Build and Manage relationships with key business and technology stakeholders to enable customer success and enhance customer value.· Create strategic vision for business alignment and constantly improve/re-engineer processes to achieve business and IT goals.· Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.· Develop and review budgets and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives. Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.· Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.· Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.· Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.· Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.· Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, and developing personnel; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance.· Ability to mentor and drive results across several areas of the organization.What you bring· Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience· 8+ years of related experience of experience in data engineering or related roles· 4 or more years of people and vendor management experience· 4+ years of project and delivery management experience· Deep understanding of database design, data modeling, and ETL processes with 7+ years of practical exposure· 2+ years of working experience with Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS and GCP· Experience is cloud Azure data platform technologies such as Data Lake, Azure data factory and Synapse is preferred.· Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.· Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including customers and internal staff.· Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.· Emotional maturity· Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.· Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.· Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.If this is a role that interests you and you’d like to learn more, click apply now and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
