The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.The Customer Service Specialist-Intermediate position exists to provide administrative support to Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) staff working in a hybrid environment who work both in on-site and remote locations. This position also serves as the receptionist for the MSRS St. Paul office, coordinating individual participant appointment requests for the St. Paul office and field offices, as well as preparing all outbound mail and providing support for other mailing projects. This role will also provide administrative support to a number of member service units and staff.Minimum QualificationsThe following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position and should be reflected on resume:

Customer service skills in person, on the phone, and through email to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to participants, staff, and vendors.

Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret and convey information based on participants requests.

Knowledge of the equipment used in performing office functions, such as telephone call handling, data entry, and word processing.

Ability to input data quickly and accurately.

Strong human relations skills of empathy, clear speaking, and effective listening in order to obtain and provide accurate, comprehensive information to members.

Ability to move mail containers up to 40 pounds.

Preferred QualificationsThe following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

One (1) year of experience working in a support position, in an office setting.

Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with databases that include entering data.
