Join the talented, engaged and inclusive workforce dedicated to creating a better Minnesota.The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is seeking to hire up to two (2) Staff Attorneys. OAH is the largest of three Executive Branch Courts with over sixty full-time equivalents located in St. Paul and Duluth. OAH, with 30 judges, is comparable in size to the Ramsey County District Court with 32 judges. OAH has exclusive, trial-level jurisdiction over 200 unique areas of administrative law and workers’ compensation. This means the decisions of OAH are appealable to higher-level appellate courts (Minnesota Court of Appeals, Minnesota Supreme Court, and Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals) and not at trial-level district courts.Classification as a Staff Attorney 1 or 2 will be determined based on experience.Core responsibilities:· Conduct legal research and analysis.· Provide legal analysis and opinion.· Independently prepare drafts of interim orders, medical summaries and final Findings and Orders and other final decisions.· Serve as a point of contact for attorneys and pro se parties seeking answers to procedural questions.IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSTING: Applicants MUST

Juris Doctorate (J.D.)

Current licensure in good standing to practice law in the State of Minnesota.

Demonstrate substantial legal writing skills.

Intercultural competency:

Ability to:

o research, understand, interpret, and explain relevant law.o apply it in complex legal and factual settings.o speak and write effectively, including drafting clear, concise, and well-reasoned findings of fact, conclusions, and order.o work well as part of a team.To be considered at the Staff Attorney 1 level, applicants must have 2 (two) or more years of experience or equivalent.To be considered at the Staff Attorney 2 level, applicants must have 3 (three) or more years of experience or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications

Prior executive branch or judicial branch experience conducting legal research and drafting judicial opinions / orders / decisions.

Demonstrated commitment to community and / or public service.
