Wilderness outfitter based in the Gallatin Valley is in need of an additional hand for the fall hunting season, September through November.
This job entails helping with cooking, wrangling and packing.
Medicine Lake Outfitters is a backcountry horse and mule outfit that has been in business for the past fifty years. We outfit fly fishing pack trips in Yellowstone during the summer season. In the fall we operate a wall tent elk camp for eight-day hunts in the remote country of the Madison Range.
REQUIREMENTS:
. Extensive equine knowledge (minimum 5 years horseback experience)
. Safety conscious. Good customer service and communication skills.
. Physically Fit. Must be able to throw a fifty-pound saddle onto the back of a tall horse.
. Attention to Detail. Must be able to retain directives and remember and implement standard operating procedures.
. Responsible. Show up when scheduled. Punctual to work. Self-starter.
. Maintain a presentable western wrangler image around guests.
. Non-smoker.
DESIREABLE EXPERIENCE / CREDENTIALS:
. Prior experience at a guest ranch or with a backcountry outfitter.
. First Aid and CPR certification.
We are partial to help that is conservative, competent, self-sufficient and easy going. We are non-smoking. This job is best suited to someone who isn't going to be constantly pulled back to the valley by other responsibilities.
