Community Development SpecialistDUTIES OF THIS POSITION:The Community Development Specialist will collaborate with the Director of Community Development on various community and infrastructure development initiatives. This includes but is not limited to public facility project development, grant writing, tourism planning, project management and reporting to state and federal funding agenciesSALARY AND BENEFITS:Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, starting at $42,000 - $45,000 annually. This is a full-time positionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An undergraduate degree in business administration, community planning, public administration, finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered, especially in areas such as infrastructure financing, project management, construction management, economic development, community development, or community planning.
Proficiency in computerized spreadsheet and word processing software programs and familiarity with common office equipment.
A valid Montana driver's license is required and must be maintained.
Must meet the physical demands of the position.DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Experience working with local elected officials in a planning or project management capacity is highly desirable.
Ability to prepare complex proposals in compliance with State of
Montana and federal funding program guidelines is a strong plus.ABILITIES AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, as the role involves interactions with the public, local government officials and staff, co-workers, and groups.
This position requires extended periods of desk work, attendance at meetings, and travel in vehicles.
Proficiency in using webinar and phone conferencing programs is expected.
Vision abilities should allow for the review of technical and legal documents, reports, telephone numbers, analytical and statistical reports.
Occasional standing, walking short distances, stooping, bending, and lifting of materials weighing up to 25 pounds may be necessary.
Travel is required for job-related duties, which may involve climbing into various vehicles.
