Kitchen Manager

The Old Post is seeking a Kitchen Manager to oversee daily back-of-house restaurant operations. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising food preparation and cooking, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards. A successful candidate will be able to collaborate with other managers and team members to ensure the timely delivery of quality food to our customers. Our kitchen staff requires mentoring, training, and positive leadership by example. Our current leadership team is hardworking and dedicated, and they need a supportive manager to help them succeed.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate food orders, including taking weekly inventory

- Oversee food prep and cooking processes

- Ensure food plating and temperature standards are met

- Establish portion sizes and maintain consistency

- Schedule kitchen staff shifts and manage the team effectively

- Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to price menu items

- Order food supplies and equipment as needed

- Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques

- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area

- Generate weekly and monthly cost reports

Skills:

- Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager, or Head Chef

- Strong ability to plan menus and order ingredients

- Knowledge of a variety of recipes

- Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations

- Excellent organizational skills

- Conflict management abilities

- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends

- Certification from a culinary school or a degree in Restaurant Management is a plus
