Looking for a caregiver/companion for my mother, a stroke survivor (70). She has right-side paralysis, but is able to walk with a walker and mostly get around by herself. She’s friendly, however she mostly cannot talk except to say yes or no – patience is a must. No medical care is required, but she’ll need help with:
- Transferring to and from her wheelchair (sometimes)
- Heating up meals
- House cleaning / laundry
- Changing clothes
- Simple exercises / stretches / massage
- Shower help (very rare)
- Transferring her to the car and driving her to appointments or shopping
The caregiver can expect to spend most of their day keeping her company, cleaning the house (counters, floors, laundry), perhaps helping her around the garden if it’s nice out. There are probably a few hours a day of downtime in this job where you can just read or use your phone, it’s fairly relaxed.
Candidates don’t need formal training but need to have some experience caring for someone, preferably post-stroke. Needs to be healthy, reliable, very patient, and kind.
Compensation is $16/hr cash, weekly. 10 hrs/day (7AM - 5PM), 3-4 days a week, depending on the candidate. Lunch is usually provided if you don’t mind Chinese food. Please email me with your history if you're interested!
