To put it simply we want our people to thrive and love the work they do.The Manager, Policy Advocacy & Engagement position seeks to positively influence legislation, policy and regulation in support of the best financial interests of Rest members, by working both internally within Rest and externally with a range of stakeholders.Key Accountabilities/ResponsibilitiesGovernment and stakeholder relations and engagement Support the General Manager, Public Policy & Advocacy to manage Rest’s framework for government and relevant stakeholder relations at Rest, working with other senior leaders. This will include identification of ‘spheres of influence’ e.g. parliamentary relations (Commonwealth and State), government departmental relations, alignment with peak bodies, employers and unions, and clarification of approach for influencing within each sphere.Support SMEs across Rest in building and maintaining relevant relationships with key stakeholders.Develop relationship with key stakeholders in in government and other stakeholders and where appropriate undertake direct liaison in support of Rest member outcomes.Work closely with the Rest Member and Employer teams to build and strengthen key employer and union relationships.Maintain a record of all government liaison undertaken by Rest staff or representatives, supporting co-ordination and alignment of liaison to maximise impact on behalf of Rest members.Supporting public policy and advocacy priorities Working with the General Manager, Public Policy & Advocacy, work collaboratively with senior leaders and subject-matter experts across Rest to support the development of policy advocacy strategies to further Rest members’ best financial interests, including through preparation of research, meeting briefs, advice and other strategic inputs.Work to support the development of proactive advocacy strategies for policy reform associated with Rest’s priorities.Prepare high-quality submissions to government on issues that are important to Rest and its members or consult with others within Rest who are preparing such submissions.Prepare high-quality policy documents, white papers, position papers, presentations, briefings, etc, informed by data, insights and evidence which demonstrates a close connection to Rest members’ best financial interests.Advisory and consultingProvide advisory and consulting support across Rest to assist in the creation, development and application of policy advocacy positions in Rest members’ best financial interests.Liaise and advise as required with senior leaders and specialists across Rest.Work collaboratively with other teams on policy-related responses related to member and other stakeholder enquiries.
