OverviewThe Per Diem On Call Nurse Practitioner performs rounding on Carrier Clinic units during weekend coverage. They provide psychiatric and medical care to patientsand residents of Carrier Clinic. Conforms to performance improvement standards of patient care as established through Carrier Policies andProcedures. Provides professional representation of Carrier to other health professionals, community agencies, and the lay public. Psychiatry experience prescribing meds for at least 1 year required.Responsibilities1.Provide psychiatric and medical treatment to inpatients on the unit to which they are assigned2.Follows all EMTALA regulations and the Facility requirements concerning EMTALA3.Completion of a daily progress note including mental health status and diagnosis4.Completion of medication orders, status,laboratory tests,diets,etc. as needed5.Completes all documentation/orders as required with timeliness and quality including delinquencies and incident reporting6.Documentation of unusual incidents7.Progress note documentation for patients requiring special monitoring, e.g. suicide precautions, seclusion or restraints8.Reviews laboratory results and documents timely9.Consultation/liaison with Nursing Supervisor, as needed10.Responds to nursing requests as needed11.Assures that all Medical Clearances are completed in a timely and efficient manner when covering Access shifts.12.Responds to Utlization Management Documentation requests efficiently and timely13.Adherence to performance improvement protocols including clinical pathways14.Returning all patient and family phone calls as needed on a timely basis15.Required to respond to calls/pages16.Adheres to timekeeping and payroll policies17.Reliable and on time to all scheduled rounding coverage18.Other duties and/or projects as assigned19.Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behaviorQualificationsGraduate of an approved APN ProgramInteracts well with patients,visitors and Facility staff, responding promptly to inquiries with tact and sensitivityDemonstrates a courteous, cooperative,pleasant and positive attitudeMaintains strict standards of confidentialityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platformsAPN LicenseAdult Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification or Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse PractitionerCertificationAHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed in the first 90 days of employmentPsychiatry experience prescribing meds for at least 1 year required.Department CC Physician ServicesSite HMH Carrier Clinic IncJob Location US-NJ-Belle MeadPosition Type Per DiemStandard Hours Per Week 8Shift DayShift Hours variesWeekend Work Weekends as NeededOn Call Work No On-Call RequiredHoliday Work As Needed
