Accounts Payable Specialist

Description Robert Half is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for a 3-4 month contract with a growing real estate firm in Bergen County, NJ. Key Responsibilities: -Process and verify incoming invoices related to property management, including but not limited to utilities, maintenance services, and property taxes, ensuring accuracy, approvals, and coding in accordance with company policies. -Maintain up-to-date vendor information, including W-9s and certificates of insurance, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. -Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies in a timely manner. -Prepare and perform weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH payments, and wire transfers. -Work closely with the procurement and property management teams to ensure that purchase orders and contracts are accurately reflected in accounts payable. -Assist in month-end closing processes, including accruals and preparation of accounts payable-related journal entries. -Respond to vendor inquiries and foster strong vendor relationships through timely and effective communication. -Support the finance team with audit preparation and queries related to accounts payable. -Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the accounts payable process. -Perform additional duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Requirements Qualifications: -Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. -5+ years of accounts payable experience, specifically within the property management industry. -Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. -Strong understanding of accounting principles, especially as they relate to accounts payable and property management. -Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. -Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors and internal teams. -Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to property management finance.
